Principal Ecologist, Glasgow

Applicants MUST have the following:

Suitable candidates will have at least four years experience as a professional ecologist is essential, as is a degree and/or masters in ecology or closely related subject plus hold CEnv status and protected species. You will have experience in Extended Phase 1 AND NVC habitat surveys, including upland environments, you will have a proven track record of ecological survey and evaluation methods and excel in quality project delivery, client care and team management.

Applicants should also have:
• Good knowledge of peatland habitats and restoration
• Strong background in ecology constancy, including ecological surveying, report writing and EIA assessments;
• Substantial knowledge of ecological survey and evaluation methods as applied to a range of taxa;
• Experience of protected species mitigation and legal compliance
• Experience of designing, managing and undertaking ecological assessments;
• In depth knowledge of environmental law, including the Habitats Regulations, CRoW Act, and Water Framework Directive;
• Evidence of client liaison, contract negotiation;
• Experience of working with developers on development sites;

Have the ability to lead a team of ecologists and managing high profile EIA projects is a requirement of the role. You will be based within the Glasgow office and will be willing to travel to sites to undertake field surveys.

A full driving licence is essential. Computer skills including database, GIS skills and experience would be advantageous.
