Our client is a large public sector organisation employing over 1200 staff in a variety of roles throughout Scotland. Formed just over 2 years ago, it is a highly progressive organisation that offers excellent career development combined with modern working practices.
The Information Services division provides ICT support for over 1000 applications and 12,000 PCs across more than 250 sites. They are committed to the development of a new National ICT Strategy that will improve efficiency and exchange of information in the most cost effective manner. To ensure continued success and growth it is vital that they attract and recruit individuals with the necessary skills, behaviours, qualifications and experience who can contribute effectively towards the achievement of our goals and values.
With an ambitious programme of projects scheduled for the next few years, there is an immediate opportunity for an experienced IT Project Manager to join the Business and Project Services team.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, this individual will ensure the delivery of a major ICT project within time, budget and to required quality standards. As well as a relevant Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE 2), the successful applicant will have first class communication skills and a proven track record in managing large scale projects through the full life cycle.
Key duties will include;
Ensure that the project is delivered within the financial requirements/tolerances agreed by the customer and Project Board.
Estimate and plan projects from start to finish, with built in contingencies.
Ensure projects meet industry leading quality standards.
Manage, monitor and motivate the cross functional team assigned to the project.
Conduct project presentations and compile reports as required.
Proactively, identify and manage Project Risks, escalating issues where appropriate.
Manage ICT elements of Business Case reporting actual expenditure against profiled expenditure. Escalating to management any deviation from agreed tolerances.
