Hi :)

My name's Ed Cohen and I'm a concert pianist who has had a large amount of performing experience across three continents.

I'm currently studying for a Master's in piano performance at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.

I recently completed study under Kathryn Stott (long-time collaborator with Yo-Yo Ma amongst others) at the Royal Academy of Music where I graduated with first class honours. Additionally, I worked intensively for a year under the tutelage of celebrated pianist Andre Watts at Indiana University, USA. Furthermore I have been the winner of numerous prizes and worked with some of the top musicians in the world (information on request to avoid accusations of name-dropping!).

I'm looking for any music-related work that may be available in Glasgow and the surrounding area including teaching, recitals, orchestral piano work, chamber music, provision of background music, pianist for ballet schools, new compositional projects, bands with paid gigs, music journalism, accompanist for exams, recitals, lessons etc. I already have a great deal of experience in all of these fields and references can be provided without a problem.

My particular interest is in going beyond the realms of a standard classical pianist - ventures into jazz (Art Tatum transcriptions, Kapustin piano works) Rock (Radiohead, Muse song transcriptions), Electronic distortion (www.bigoandtwigetti.co.uk ) and the obscure but dangerously difficult (Alkan, Rzewski, Rautavaara) are all things I enjoy immensely. However the standard repertoire is what I grew up on so if you need some Chopin or Mozart it's not a problem!
