Scottish Policy Manager Energy Sector
Our client is a large Utilities Firm, whilst they have a base in Scotland they are looking to expand considerably and therefore the recruitment of a Scottish Policy Manager is paramount to there success. You will be expected to develop Company policy positions applicable to the Scottish context. To monitor and seek to influence the development of energy and planning policy in Scotland. To enhance the Company's reputation for contributing to energy policy development in Scotland.
Principal Accountabilities Include -
1. Develop Company positions on Scottish energy policy that are consistent with broader Company positions
2. Manage production and delivery of Company responses to Scottish government consultations on energy policy
3. Support Public Affairs activity in Scotland in co-operation with Brand, Sustainability and External Communications through provision of policy analysis and research.
4. Develop and implement stakeholder action plans in Scotland.
5. Promote the acceptance of new nuclear development in Scotland
6. Support development of the Company's business in Scotland through enhancing its reputation with policy makers
The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with the Corporate Policy and Regulation Director, Head of Energy Policy and Brand, Sustainability and External Communications.
The post holder will be the expert point of reference on Scottish policy and developments relevant to the company and will have autonomy in influencing the policy environment in Scotland. The role will involve developing the company's position with the Corporate Policy and regulation Director and ensure consistency between the compact positions in England and Scotland.
Candidates will be expected to posses the following skill and qualifications -
· Masters level degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline e.g. engineering or economics.
· Experience at a senior level within a commercial environment.
· Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills
· Deep and extensive knowledge of the energy market and how it works commercially.
· Exceptional communication skills both orally and in writing.
· Analytical and numerical expertise and able to explain complex concepts to a range of audiences,
· Developed knowledge of the political and regulatory processes and framework.
· Developed knowledge of the wider operating environment.
· Awareness of company strategy
Such a senior position will naturally command a very competitive salary.
