Desktop Analyst
An important Hays client seeks a Desktop Support Analyst to resolve issues logged with the service desk and provide technical support to ensure systems remain operational and effective, ensure timely remedial action in the event of system problems and monitor the progress and keep users appraised of progress.
As the ideal candidate you will be tasked to deliver against the following criteria:
- Receives and logs requests for support from service desk, other service delivery staff and/or users. Prioritises requests in accordance with agreed criteria and needs of the organisation.
- Investigates problems and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions (system modifications, work-arounds, enhancements, data manipulation, operating procedures, training etc).
- Monitors progress of requests for support, keeps all parties informed and takes action to minimise delays.
- Monitors application systems, notes problems, identifies performance trends and takes corrective action to improve performance and avoid problems arising·
- Carries out routine configuration/installation and reconfiguration of hardware and software.
- Installs, and commissions desktop systems and their routine upgrades.
- Provides information on updates, known errors, changes in availability, new facilities, etc.
- Uses appropriate systems, tools and documentation to maintain the hardware/software register.
Assists users to make more effective use of desktop systems, products and services, making initial diagnosis of problems and advising known solutions where applicable.
- Monitors, logs and reports on actual service provided as compared to that required by SLA's.
- Documents all work using the required standards, methods and tools.
As the ideal candidate you will have the following skills, experience, knowledge and technical background:
ESSENTIAL:
- Experience as a Desktop Support Analyst / Technician.
- Experience of working with Windows XP Pro.
- Experience of working with Windows 2000.
- As the ideal candidate you must be able to work as part of a team.
- As the ideal candidate you must be capable of working under pressure
- As the ideal candidate you must be able to show flexibility in managing multiple tasks.
- As the ideal candidate you must have the ability to cope with constant interruption of workload.
- As the ideal candidate you must be able to give good attention to detail.
- As the ideal candidate you must possess a sense of diplomacy, tact and patience.
DESIRABLE:
- Knowledge of MS Windows Server 2003, SMS, and IT peripherals including printers, plotters, scanners etc.
- Other experience gained in a computer environment is an advantage Knowledge of LAN & WAN technology.
