Maintenance Engineer

The salary is up to £28,000 per annum

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining a range of services, plant, equipment and building fabric within the Amey schools estate in Dumfries & Galloway. The Technician will support the Supervisor in the effective delivery of the planned and unplanned maintenance activities across the estate.

Requirements

Essential:
Qualified tradesperson with higher qualifications and extensive post apprenticeship experience
Understanding and application of safe systems of work and Electricity at work regulations
Knowledge and application of fixed wire testing and portable appliance testing
16th Edition Wiring Regulations
Multi-skilled building services engineer with the ability to diagnose faults in large educational, commercial and industrial systems
Desirable:
City & Guilds 2391 for inspection and testing of fixed wire installations
Commercial Gas qualifications
COCN1, CORT1, CAGA1, TCPC1, TCPC1A, CCCN1, OASH working safely
PASMA, portable access equipment
IPAF, powered access platforms

Responsibilities

Undertake a full range of craftsman duties as directed by the Supervisor
Interpret and be responsible for the upkeep of services and building drawings located in the O & A manuals
Use specialist engineering instruments for test and measurement purposes
Assemble and install services for building plant and equipment
Undertake routine planned maintenance tasks in line with the maintenance programme
Interogate and make necessary adjustments to the computerised building management system to control the internal environmental conditions and to support the energy management delivery
Undertake testing of service and make appropriate records for all statutory requirements i.e. water, emergency lighting, electrical testing and boiler maintenance/testing as required within specialism and qualification
Participate in emergency call out rota
Other general duties relating to the maintenance department as directed by the Supervisor
Implement and comply with the company procedures including Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
