Want to make the lives of children and young people better?

ChildLine in Scotland is the free helpline for children and young people in danger or distress. It provides a telephone and online counselling service for any child with any problem.

Volunteer counsellors use counselling skills to offer support, comfort and advice to children and young people who call ChildLine or contact us online. Currently we can’t answer all the calls and contacts we get – can you help us change that?

Children and young people contact ChildLine on the phone and through our online service about a range of issues including bullying, abuse, neglect, sexuality, pregnancy and facts of life. Counsellors listen, assess and explore feelings and options with callers or with children and young people contacting us online.

Calls and online contacts must remain confidential to ChildLine, so we hold a brief before and debrief after counselling shifts to help volunteers deal with any difficult feelings or issues.

No previous experience of counselling or working with children is needed, as full training and support is provided.
