Our Client is one of the leading power companies in the world and are currently seeking a primary substation design engineer on a permanent basis to be located in Glasgow. This role offers excellent career progression and the opportunity for growth alongside a generous salary dependant on experience.

Key Responsibilities

-Conduct all conceptual design including the substation layout and section drawings.

-Earthing design including initiation of earthing layout drawings and calculations.

-Initiation of schedules of busbars, connectors, clamps and earthing materials.

-Initiation of calculation of loads and overturning moments.

-Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements of subcontractors.

-Liaise with customers and suppliers along with attending technical progress reviews and meetings.


Candidate Specifications

-Ideally candidates should have a bachelors degree within electrical engineering CEng or MIEE (although HNC/HND qualifications and proven experience will be considered).

-High voltage (132kv-400kv) design experience is essential.

-Experience of liaising with customers and suppliers in a previous role within a power company.

-Experience working on overall design and specification of electrical power systems and associated power system components.

- Proven knowledge of calculations used to demonstrate integrity of designs.
