Glasgow community chest
Volunteers needed for befriending. Work experience for you & training provided.
Glasgow Association for Mental Health has a befriending service, SCOPe (Supporting Carers & Older People), which provides befriending support to older people experiencing or recovering from mental health problems and to older carers of people with mental health problems.
Our volunteers provide support to help people who use the service get back out and about into the community. This could include going to the cinema, museums, out for walks and a range of other activities.
Our new volunteer training programme will begin in early October and runs for 6 sessions.
Befriending can make a real difference to the lives of people who access the service but also to volunteers in: building up work experience in a new area; providing ongoing training and support; the possibility of a reference for future employment and the chance to meet new people and make a real contribution to the community.
Contact us to arrange an informal meeting for further information.
